September 11, 2001. Ten years ago today was a day of heartbreak and life-changing events for America. Right now we're at Eric's parents' home watching stories of 9/11 on t.v. I remember that morning vividly. As I was getting ready for school, Mom turned on the news, and we saw smoke pouring out of the first tower. I was in eighth grade, and as I put on my cheerleading uniform, I just assumed it was a horrible accident. When I got to Declo Jr. High, I was in Mrs. Murry's classroom first period, and we all just sat around the television watching with our mouths hanging open. I remember watching the towers collapse live. Everyone, teachers and students, spent the day sitting solemnly, watching the news, and feeling blindsided by terrorism and impending war. However, in the weeks and months that followed, it was amazing how the nation came together in hope, patriotism, and trust in God. Those brave police officers, paramedics, fire fighters, and servicemen were loved and revered. We are indebted to their courage and sacrifice. Through the the years since, many Americans have given their lives in the name of freedom for our country and others overseas. THANK YOU!!!!
Today, I spent the morning of September 11th snuggling in bed with my husband and sweet little boy before church. My goodness! So much has occured in the last ten years, but I'm still proud to be in this great nation! God bless America!!
